Langtang, one of the most beautiful and scenic regions, is a narrow valley that lies just north of Kathmandu and is squeezed in between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower mountain range to the south. A visit to Langtang Valley offers an opportunity to explore villages and monasteries as well as to visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation. Gosaikund, a lake held sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists, is also located here. Both Dhunche and Syabrubesi, the trailheads to the Langtang region are only about a day’s drive from Kathmandu. Due to its close proximity to Kathmandu, the Langtang region is an ideal trekking destination for those with time constraints who wish to experience Nepal’s unique combination of cultures, landscape and mountain vistas. The valley also harbours to a rich variety of flora and fauna. All you need is a reasonable level of physical fitness to trek in this region.
