Cho-Oyu Trekking Private Limited company, was formerly established by Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa as private limited company, more than 14 years ago but his individual experience and professional activities in the field of Travel and Tourism dates back to more than 20 years. He has personal experience of over 20 years and a determination to provide the best of Himalayas and it's neighboring areas. As he is involved in tourism for so long and had personally traveled and trekked in most of the areas, he has the vast experience of field as well, therefore the program and the itineraries are customized to match the skills and the interest of the visitors.

Cho-Oyu Trekking (P) Ltd. and it's Managing Director, Mr. Nima Nuru Sherpa with the vast experience of over 20 years in the field of Travel and Tourism, are expert in organizing and operating tours, treks, expedition and a research project with top quality service and a responsible tourism. Mr. Nima himself with an extensive field experience and in co-ordination with the well-developed skills of his staff assures that every tours, treks, expeditions and venture is well planned and carried out in detail from the very start to finish. Among its clients are the famous mountaineer's such as Benoit Chamoux of France, Anatoli Bukorev of Kajakistan, Silvio Mondanelli and Simone Moro of Italy and many other various well know personality. The likes of Dr. Igor Gamov, inventor of Gamov bag, Augustina Da Pollenza, Chairman and the head of Mountain Equip and many other well know dignitaries are good friend and repeated guest of Cho-Oyu. Cho-Oyu Trekking also has to it's credit of being the sole facilitator and operator and also providing a logistic support to International Scientific Research Project (Everest / K2 CNR project for scientific and technological Research in Himalayan and Karakoram, known as the Lobuche High Altitude Pyramid) Every year Cho-Oyu operates a full scale expedition of various 8000m mountains such as Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, Shishapangma, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri,Manaslu, Amadablam, Pumori, Baruntse etc. and many other major mountains of the Himalayas. It was also involved in facilitating a logistic support to the Nepali Women Expedition 2002 IYM for Ms. Pemba Doma Sherpa's successful accession of Mt Everest.

Cho-Oyu as a Professional

As a professional, the first priority of the company is the safety and full satisfaction of the clients with the top quality service. Cho-Oyu Trekking (P) Ltd. provides an experts arrangements for all types of adventurous as well as Luxurious travel throughout Himalayas and it's surrounding areas: from treks of one day to 30 days to full scale mountaineering expedition and a short duration trekking peak climbing. Apart from this Cho-Oyu is also involved in organizing Mountain Biking, River Rafting, Kayaking, Jungle Safari, bird watching and also eco-study tours and cultural tours therefore accordingly each trek is custom-designed with extra ordinary features: an off-the-beaten-track extension, an overnight stay or a meal in a village home, a visit to conservation project site, participation in a local festival or a personal blessings from a high lama. The Itineraries and the program are modified to suit the client's time schedule, ability, interest and even a last minute change in the weather.

For so long Cho-Oyu Trekking (P) Ltd. has been in the tourism field and is therefore full aware of the Ecotourism and Eco-friendly practices. All the Cho-Oyu staff shares a concern over the environmental impacts of mountain tourism and are a certified participants (and are a financial supporters) of conservation oriented field training. Practice what you preach is the motto of every staff of Cho-Oyu as you will see that only kerosene is burned in the trek, whether required by the law or not and the meals are designed to favor local foods thereby reducing packaging wastes and fuel consumption. All non-biodegradable garbage is packed out, toilet tents are provided on every trek, and porters and the staff are supplied with warm clothes and safety gears.

Over the years, Cho-Oyu has mastered itself in the travel trade with an experience of international expertise. It has considerable experience working with foreigners of various nationals. Mr. Karma Lama who is a former partner of this company has now establish an independent Company in USA in the name of Karmaquest but is still operating through Cho-Oyu in Nepal and it's neighboring areas. Cho-Oyu agents have offices in Germany, France, Italy, Brazil and the USA. The staff and the guides are fluent in English and various other languages such as Italian, French, etc.

Cho - Oyu guests consistently rave about the abundant, delicious and fresh food served on the trek. The cooks are formally trained in various western cooking and are noted for their preparation of Nepalese, Sherpa, Tibetan, Indian and other local dishes suited to the visitors' taste. Health an hygiene are equally high in the on the staff's agenda: guides are certified in first aid training, all staff are taught personal and kitchen hygiene and mountain guides are proficient in avoiding hazardous conditions and emergency rescue.

From the Kathmandu office, all preparation including application and confirmation of permits, liaison with government officials, arrangements for ground and air transportation and provisions of all technical equipment, staff and food - full services from trailhead to Mountain top - are done for you.
